EFT is one of the most researched and effective approaches to couples and individual therapy. Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, it focuses on the emotional bonds between people and helps identify the negative patterns that keep you stuck. Rather than teaching communication tricks, EFT goes deeper — helping you understand the attachment needs driving your emotions and behaviors, and building more secure connections.

Hart to Human is primarily a cash-pay practice. I reserve 8–10 insurance-based slots in my caseload because I believe healing shouldn't depend on income — I wouldn't have had access to these resources growing up without them. These spots are maintained through a waitlist that opens when a current client completes their work. For all other clients, I provide superbills — detailed receipts you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients recover 50–80% of their session costs this way.

Therapy addresses mental health concerns, explores past and present patterns, and requires state licensure. It's clinical, regulated, and insurance/superbills can apply. Coaching is goal-oriented, forward-focused, and doesn't address diagnoses. Because it's non-clinical, coaching is available to anyone worldwide — no state restrictions apply.

I'm licensed to practice therapy in Florida (LMFT #MT5423). Wellness coaching is non-clinical and available to clients anywhere in the world.

All sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform through SimplePractice. You'll receive a link before each session. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

It depends on your goals and situation. Some clients see meaningful shifts in 8–12 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll check in regularly to make sure therapy is moving in the right direction for you.

Absolutely. I work with couples of all backgrounds and configurations. My culturally responsive approach is designed to honor the unique dynamics that each couple brings, including the specific challenges that come with navigating cross-cultural relationships.

Under the No Surprises Act (effective January 2022), healthcare providers must give patients who don't have insurance — or who choose not to use their insurance — an estimate of expected charges. You have the right to receive this estimate before your first session. Learn more on our Good Faith Estimate page.

I require 24-hour notice for cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. Life happens — if you're having an emergency, just reach out and we'll figure it out together.

In the therapy world, insurance reimburses couples sessions at a lower rate than individual sessions — yet couples work often requires more preparation, more emotional navigation, and more clinical skill. The 53-minute session was originally designed for individuals. Self-pay allows me to give you the time and quality of care your relationship deserves without an insurance company dictating your treatment. If you're working through something significant, I recommend 75-minute sessions until things lighten up — but each couple gets their own specialized treatment plan, and session length is always a discussable topic based on the goals you bring into the room.

This is for anyone genuinely interested in improving their relationship with themselves and the people they care about. I work with individuals, couples, and families across all backgrounds and relationship structures — including polyamorous, LGBTQ+, interracial, and intercultural partnerships. My practice is inclusive, affirming, and rooted in respect. If you want a better way of existing with the people you love, you're welcome here.
